Chapter 4:

Things to Consider

Prepare to put in some long hours. If you can’t because you have small children, for example, then consider taking a business partner or partners to help carry some of the load. It is unlikely a business will succeed if the hours of operation are spotty so you will need a partner who takes the business seriously. Otherwise, consider waiting until you can do it without sacrificing your kids. Often the elderly express sorrow for not having spent more time with their children. You will never hear them say they wish they had spent more time working.

It would be nice if you had support and encouragement from everyone. You may not get it from some. Beware of the nay sayers. Sometimes it is merely they fear you’re moving on and away from them. Unless they happen to have more experience in the massage profession than you do, they may not be in the best position to give advice. Lend an ear to successful business people with whom you don’t have a personal relationship; they are a good source for information.
